Our Firstrate magnetostrictive displacement sensor consists of a measuring rod, an electronic compartment, and a non-contact magnetic ring that is sleeved on the measuring rod. Inside the measuring rod, a magnetostrictive wire (waveguide wire) is carefully installed. The measuring rod is constructed from a non-magnetic stainless steel tube, ensuring the protection of the waveguide wire.
Working Principle:
During operation, an initial pulse is generated by the electronic circuit in the electronic compartment. This pulse is transmitted through the waveguide wire, creating a rotating magnetic field that advances in the direction of the waveguide wire. When this magnetic field encounters the permanent magnetic field in the magnetic ring, it produces a magnetostrictive effect, causing the waveguide wire to twist. The energy pick-up mechanism installed in the electronic compartment senses this twist and converts it into a corresponding return pulse. By calculating the time difference between the initial pulse and the return pulse (similar to radar ranging principles), the sensor accurately measures the displacement being monitored.
